PINNED – on Linen

This is a selected Jewellery Exhibition by 21 ACJSNI members and invited guest makers closely associated with the group. The Exhibition ‘Pinned’ was first shown in Craft NI, November 2020 during Lockdown no.2. For this second showing, we are also premiering some new work.

‘PINNED – on Linen’ pays tribute to the fabric associated with R-Space at the Linen Rooms by installing work on repurposed and locally sourced Linen.  By adapting the exhibition sympathetically and referencing the significance of the new location and its industrial heritage, ACJSNI engages audiences with new ways to experience the approaches and languages of Contemporary Jewellery, both in material and form.

ACJSNI are a regional branch of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery, whose members include those who make jewellery, associated designers and craftspeople, educators, students, galleries, museum curators, retailers, critics, collectors, and people who want to learn more about contemporary jewellery.

Exhibitors: Abbie Dixon, Angela Davison, Anne Earls Boylan, Céline Traynor, Clodagh Molloy, Eddie Doherty, Egle Banyte, Fiona Mullholland, Heather McFadden, Jackie McMaster, Jill Graham, Joel Smyth, Lotus de Wit, Martin Cameron, Maureen McGhee, Ramona McCloskey, Robyn Galway, Shannon McShane, Sinead Cooke, Stuart Cairns.

Exhibition – Talk – Workshop

Project Linlon is on show in R-Space Gallery, Lisburn from 21st March to 18th April 2015.

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending an artist talk and workshop by Nora Fok as part of her exhibition at R-Space Gallery. It was lovely to get a chance to chat to Nora about her work, I haven’t met many artists who are as generous in sharing their knowledge. A lot of her techniques have taken years of research to bring together and this passion really comes across when you see her research collections. Carefully collected in handmade boxes these collections consist of beautiful natural/found and recycled materials. Seed heads carefully dissected and preserved show the visual link to the forms found in her work.

Festive Focus

2014 The Jewellery Exchange

The Jewellery Exchange 2014 is an event curated by contemporary jeweller, Olga Raben. Through the wonders of Facebook she organised a worldwide exchange between 370 contemporary jewellers. All applicants were paired up with another maker randomly. With some goodwill and a love for jewellery we all made a piece for our partner.

To find out more about the project and all the participants click here.

To buy the book click here.

I was paired up with the very talented Ciara Bowles, her work is playful colourful, bold and daring. Inspired by the strong style in her work I wanted to create something playful and fun with a little bit of character and from this ‘Björn’ was created.

Below is an image of the stunning earrings I received from Ciara, see her full range here.
